How to Get Baby to Sleep in Crib

Many parents hate having to transition their child from their bed, or a moses basket to their own crib. This is because babies hate change! Your baby was happy in your room, sleeping with you or in a moses basket next to you – they don’t want to sleep by themselves in their own room.

Luckily, we’ve got a few top tips to share with you – to help you get through the first few nights with as little disturbance as possible.

Making sure your baby is comfortable is important, wrap them in a blanket! This will make sure they are warm throughout the night, and also make them comfortable. Bathing them before bed will also help to calm them down, which will help get them to sleep sooner.

Running a bath and adding a few drops of lavender oil can also help, as lavender oil will naturally soothe and calm your baby, and by bathing in it – well it will definitely work.

Reading a story to your child before bed every night can work wonders! Your baby loves the sound of your voice, and they will appreciate it hugely if you just read them a simple story every night. This also gives them something to think about as they get to sleep, rather than worrying.

If all else fails, you could try a white noise machine. White noise machines seem to work really well in the majority of cases, however finding the right noise for your baby is essential – such as rain, traffic, and ocean waves. Your baby may hate the traffic noise, but this doesn’t mean they hate the white noise machine.

There are many more ideas briefly explained on the infographic below, which you may wish to try! Each baby is different, and you simply need to find what works for them.
